The purpose of the retention treatment is to keep the newly aligned teeth in their final positions. The elastical fibers around the teeth tend to get the them back into their original positions. Since the teeth keep moving throughout lifetime retainers are worn for an extended period of time.

Fixed Retainers: Fixed retainers are the most common retention appliance in our clinic. A thin wire is bonded at the back of 6 or 4 anterior teeth in upper and lower jaw to keep them stable.

Removable Retainers: A removable retainer is given to the patient for retention phase. This method is rarely used in our clinic. Cooperation and motivation must be kept at higher levels, since this appliance is removable.

Essix Retainers: This is a removable and almost invisible appliance and given to patient to use daily.
